OVERVIEW OF THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM Duration 220-240 HOURS of work placement to be completed during the duration of the semester + 7.5 hours of lectures + assignments Number of days 2/3 days a week full-time x 15 weeks (approximately) Start date Usually is 1-2 weeks after commencing the semester but it will be analyzed case by case Stipend This is internship is part of your studies so no financial stipend is offered. Is advisable to have previous work experience in some fields such as business-related fields or IT roles. Meet the visa requirements (as an international student you must meet the study loan as 24 credits. To reduce your student load you need to ask for permission to your study abroad advisor and home school) Available fields Advertising, PR, communications Business operations (including HR) Entrepreneurial start-ups Environment & sustainability Marketing, sales Non-governmental organizations Sports in general Tourism & Hospitality Computer science, data analytics, IT Wildlife & conservation Health Administration (admin roles such as marketing, administration, accounting or similar within a health related business) NOTE: Due to some eligibility criteria, visa regulations and industry-specific requirements, there are some restrictions to secure an internship in some fields (refer to FAQ's section of this document) While we try our best to find you the perfect match there are some limitations to consider: Arcadia's business partners Multinationals, large corporations or international firms are NOT available in this program (examples are Amazon, Google, the 4 Big consultancy firms...) Instead expect to be placed in a small/ medium size company with a smaller team. No research centers or research internships are available in this program as well as no clinical setting with patience interactions roles..
[Audio] Student's responsibilities and obligations Must be punctual and attend the internship regularly to fulfill the 240 hours. Ask questions and seek clarification when needed. Attend to academic lectures in person and/or online. Apart from the work placement the students must pass the assignments during the semester as follows: Course Requirements Percentages Project proposal 10% Digital resume portfolio 15% Independent research project 40% Reflective Presentation 20% Participation & Engagement 15 % Note: failing to submit an assignment may result in a course failure Benefits of the internship program Learn about the Australian workplace culture and develop new skills. [Audio] FAQ'S If you are thinking about doing an internship in Australia we are sure you'll have some questions. We have compiled these Frequently Asked Questions to help you understand what this program entitles What documents do I need to apply? Typically, a resume, cover letter, transcripts, and potentially letters of recommendation. Can I change my placement if I don't like it? No, unfortunately you can not change your placement once started. However, if you encounter any challenges, we encourage you to first discuss them with your internship supervisor. If the issue continues, the Internships Manager at Arcadia will step in to support you and help find a resolution. I have started my application and have been accepted in a placement but I have changed my mind. Will I be penalized from a late withdrawal? No, you generally won't be penalized for a late withdrawal if you handle it properly. If you are unsure if this course is for you it is always advisable to have a consultation with your student advisor from your school home to help you make a decision. Additionally, Arcadia staff will provide you with guidelines and resources to support you through the process. Are there any specific eligibility requirements?? Requirements to apply may include: Be an undergraduate student. Willing to commit up to 20 hours per week to complete the placement hours, lectures and assessments from this course.
