This concept note aims to highlight the causes effects implemented interventions proposed interventions and desired outcomes related to this issue. 1. Causes: a) Insufficient knowledge and awareness among the public regarding the adverse effects of improper waste disposal contribute to the problem. b) Insufficient waste management infrastructure including recycling facilities waste collection systems and appropriate disposal methods exacerbates the issue. c) Irresponsible behaviour and littering habits of individuals 2. Effects: a) Pollution of marine ecosystems endangering marine life and disrupting the natural balance. b) The accumulation of waste near beaches poses health risks to both humans and wildlife. c) The presence of litter and waste diminishes the natural beauty(aesthetic) of beaches impacting tourism and the local economy. 3. Implemented Interventions: a) Clean Ocean project Ghana (UG CHAPTER) has conducted beach clean-up campaigns and durbar to remove accumulated waste and emphasized the need for responsible waste disposal. 4. Proposed Interventions: a) Implementing comprehensive educational programs to raise awareness about the impacts of improper waste disposal near beaches targeting schools local communities and tourists. b) Strengthening waste management infrastructure: Investing in the development of waste collection systems recycling facilities and sustainable disposal methods to ensure proper waste management near beaches. c) Encouraging collaboration between governmental bodies N-G-O-s local communities and businesses to collectively address the issue of poor waste management through joint initiatives and projects. d) Policy and regulation enforcement including penalties for littering and improper waste disposal. 5.
