Scene 2 (9s)

[Audio] The Huangshan pine, is a coniferous evergreen pine tree native to the mountains of southeastern China, mainly the beautiful Huangshan mountains in the Anhui province, where the tree grows straight out of pockets of soil in the towering rocks. The movie Avatar actually took inspiration from this mountain range. The tree itself isn't very tall, but grows straight or crooked from 50 to 80 ft, with a very broad, flat-topped crown of long, level branches. It has thick, gray scaly plated bark. The dark green leaves are needle like and come in fascicles of 2. The cones are broad squat ovoid, are 1 to 2 inches long, yellow-brown, opening when mature in late winter to become 2 inches wide. Many specimens are venerated for their unique rugged shapes and are frequently portrayed in traditional Chinese paintings..

Scene 3 (1m 3s)

[Audio] How to grow Huangshan Pine The cones mature in November, so collect during late winter when they open. Remove individual seeds from the collected cones, and soak them for 24 hours. Since Huangshan pine seeds are dormant, and need cold stratification, place the seeds in a moist paper towel enclosed in a Ziplock bag and then put the bag in a cold ( 35 to 44 fahrenheit), but not freezing, section of your fridge, for 30 days. After 30 days, remove the bag with the seeds in it from the fridge, and leave it out in a warm place for a week. After a week, remove the sprouting seed and plant them in your desired planting location, whether it be a pot, or in the ground. Water the seedlings infrequently to ensure a strong, deep root system, but enough so they don't wilt due to dehydration. Keep the seedlings in light shade during hot weather. If you want faster growth, fertilize seedlings with a light layer of organic compost, or apply 10 10 10 NPK fertilizer..
