History of Skrunda high school. By Gerda Eida. 

Scene 1

Community school. The first school was founded in 1843 in P a rventa, its name was community school, in 1889 Skrunda community school was renamed as a parish school. At the beginning of Latvia's independence, Skrunda p arish s chool was renamed O. Kalpaka Skrunda 6-kl. primary school..

Pumpura primary school. After World War II O. Kalpaka Skrunda 6-kl. primary school was renamed Pumpura primary school. Thanks to the teacher Ansis Opolta's initiative in 1950 Pumpura p rimary s chool became a growing secondary school..

Skrunda high school construction. In 1968 a new school was built on the left bank of the Venta river in the center of the village of Skrunda, on the side of the Riga-Liepaja highway. It becomes Skrunda high s chool, which in 1971 acquired the name of Skrunda high school No. 1 ..

Skrundas vidusskolas direktori. Olga Vilnīte has led the school since 1968-1971 (the new school building was built under her leadership. Until then, she was the principal of Skrunda 6-, 7-, 8-year-old school from 1947). Kārlis Dravnieks has le a d ing the school since 1971-1972. Laimonis Melķis has le a d ing the school from January 1973 to August 1973 Laimdota Zveja has le a d ing the school since 1973-1983. Gaida Vershun has led the school from 1983-1987. Guntis Jurkevičs has leading the school since 1987-1990. Zinta Šķirmante has le a d ing the school since 1990-1995. Ilgvars Mielavs has le a d ing the school from March 1995 to 2001, when he became the head of the city Silva Petersone ran the school from 2001 to 2003. Ainars Zankovskis runs the school since 2003-.
