"kwitis" Pleased be informed that on January 1, 2026 at around 7:45 AM, a firecracker-related incident was reported, resulting in injuries to two (2) individuals, identified as follows: V1- Jhun Mark S Pascual, 22 years old, and a resident of Brgy. Smart, Gonzaga, Cagayan; and V2- Aldrin Jay A. Lao-ing, 22 years old, and a resident of Sitio Laoc, Pateng, Gonzaga, Cagayan. Investigation shows that V1 was standing on the road near their residence, observing the New Year’s Eve noise barrage, when he ignited a “kwitis” firecracker. The firecracker suddenly exploded, causing him to sustain minor abrasions on his left hand. Likewise, Mr. Aldrin went outside their residence to celebrate New Year when accidentally struck by sparks from a “kwitis” firecracker on his eye which caused eye trauma. Both victims were immediately brought by their family to APEMDH for medical assistance. That after applying first aid to their injuries, they immediately went home.
