We realize that you may have had some experience as an editor, technical writer, or proofreader, or perhaps even as a grant writer. Our purpose is to show you the format that we use in our business. [Audio] This presentation focuses on the letter of inquiry or " LOI" since most of your work will contain such a letter at one point or another. Before writing an "LOI", the client's eligibility must be determined. In most cases, this will be done before you get the assignment. Continue to read the rest of this slide at your own pace. [Audio] Statistics are numbers or facts that are used as a tool to convince the reader. The reader will feel that they cannot argue with facts and that statistics will prove what you are saying. They are used to convince the funder and to add factual weight to your position. You need to explain the need that can be met by your project. Describe the target population and geographic area. Provide significant statistical facts. Generalizations will not work here such as " many" or "a high percentage". Use real numbers, real people, real organization, real data.
