It provides a framework for identifying and mitigating risks, promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility, and meeting laws and regulations.  The policy supports business management system integration and standardised handling of SHEQ issues, making monitoring easier and strengthening governance.  The SHEQ Policy aligns Eskom’s management system requirements with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001

SHEQ Policy = One integrated operating standard for Eskom
 The SHEQ Policy outlines Eskom’s commitment to safe and healthy work, environmental protection, and high-quality standards for products and services.

Operational Excellence is achieved when Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality are applied together – not in silos.

The requirement to establish a management system policy as per ISO 9001/14001/45001 Clause 5.2.

By developing a SHEQ policy for management systems that supports Eskom’s strategic direction.  It provides a framework for setting objectives (measurable performance).  It commits to meeting applicable requirements (customer, statutory, and regulatory).  It commits to continual improvement of the management system.  It must be communicated, understood, applied, kept as documented information, and reviewed periodically (e.g., through management reviews).

This is how quality becomes a leadership system and not a compliance exercise!
