[Virtual Presenter] Good morning everyone, I am pleased to welcome you all here today to discuss our plans for the upcoming 2023-24 school year. We will be focusing on how to increase the proficiency of Students with Disabilities on state-wide assessments through the implementation of Tier Two interventions. I am sure that with everyone's collaborative effort, we will be able to achieve our goal..
[Audio] Apopka High School has assembled a School Improvement Team of nine members for the upcoming school year 2023-2024. The Team is led by the Principal L H , who oversees the assistant principals and the Instructional Support team, as well as leading the discipline team. The Assistant Principals are assigned to specific areas such as biology, Geometry, Algebra, English Language Arts and student services, while the Instructional Coach, Staffing Specialist, Head Dean and Instructional Media Specialist are responsible for providing professional development, overseeing individual education plans and student accommodations, monitoring student behaviour and ensuring students and teachers have access to digital resources..
[Audio] Apopka High School has a vision to increase our students' performance on state-wide assessments and ensure everyone has the skills they need to succeed. To this end, we are introducing Tier Two interventions based on the data we have from our assessments and offering our teachers the appropriate training to execute these strategies. These interventions will not be restricted to the "Big Six" courses, but will also be implemented throughout the school, covering areas such as reading, writing, analysis and comprehension. We are certain that, with the whole school's backing, we can raise our school grade from a "C" to a B+ or higher in 2023-2024..
[Audio] Apopka High School is made up of three thousand five hundred students from diverse backgrounds. Although there was significant gains in three core subjects, English Language Learners proficiency and overall math scores remain areas of improvement. To ensure our students are receiving the best education, a plan needs to be implemented to improve these two areas for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year..
Data Summary ELA Overall.
[Audio] Data Summary Student With Disabilities provides an overview of the quantities of students with disabilities, segregated by type of handicap. Details regarding the resources and backing accessible to them and the initiatives taken to make sure their successful inclusion in the school are likewise noted. This information is employed to inform our School Improvement Plan and guarantee that all students with disabilities have access to the necessary support and resources to assist them in accomplishing their desired objectives..
Data Summary Math Overall.
[Audio] We can see from the data summary of math students with disabilities that the number of students who have passed the math tests has increased positively, and the percentage of students with disabilities participating in the math tests has also risen modestly. This indicates that our school improvement plan is effective..
[Audio] Our data analysis shows that students with disabilities achieved the lowest academic performance in the 2022-2023 school year. Consequently, our school improvement plan should focus on boosting their academic performance. To this end, we should prioritize providing them with specialized support, technology access, and additional resources to enable them to realize their potential..
[Audio] Good morning everyone. As part of our school improvement plan for the upcoming year, we completed a curriculum audit to compare the curriculum scope and sequence to student achievement data. We found that our math and social studies assessments experienced significant learning gains. However, our English Language Learners and Students with Disabilities did not show growth in either content mastery or learning gains. Our state assessment data showed that our greatest need is in math and English for Students with Disabilities where most of them need to perform proficiently. With the information gathered from this audit, we can now begin to create strategies to help improve the overall achievement of our students..
[Audio] In order to ensure that our curriculum meets the needs of our diverse student body, the Orange County Public Schools works hard to ensure that the curriculum they provide aligns with state expectations of student performance. This scope and sequence provides all the necessary resources for teachers, from bilingual translations to test questions, to plan and run their classes to help ensure our students proficiency. We are committed to developing a curriculum that is comprehensive, inclusive, and constantly evolving to meet the needs of the changing student body..
[Audio] As educators, it is our responsibility to ensure that our students receive a quality education that meets their individual needs, and this School Improvement Plan allows us to do just that. By utilizing the resources we have access to, such as group assignments, leveled instruction, and standards-based grading, we can provide our students with an equitable education that aligns with their learning styles and preferences. The integration of our school improvement plan allows us to recognize our students’ individual strengths and weaknesses, creating a learning environment that supports the development of their unique skills and talents..
[Audio] We strongly believe technology can significantly improve student learning. Therefore, our school improvement plan for the next academic year (2023-2024) is crafted to guarantee same educational opportunities through the use of up-to-date technologies. Our textbooks contain various culturally diverse materials, allowing us to deliver the most relevant, respectful, and meaningful teaching to all students. Moreover, our interactive system allows every student to build an individualized learning program, ideal for them. Our main objective is to provide our school community with the technological resources necessary, and to ensure access to these resources for all grade levels and student groups..
[Audio] Dawson Shreiner American College of Education has set a goal for instructors to provide regular and specific interventions for students with disabilities in all "Big Six" subjects. Data charts from Standards-Based assessments, F A S T testing, Performance Measuring Assessments and STAR will be used to monitor the interventions. The students with disabilities in the English subject should aim to obtain 50% proficiency in passing the end-of-course exam, while in Math, they should strive for 50% proficiency in passing F A S T This comprehensive plan is sure to help the students with disabilities to reach their full potential..
[Audio] As part of our School Improvement Plan, Professional Development will be conducted for all teachers to create and conduct data checks with their students in every unit. These data checks will be divided into formative and summative assessments, with the formative assessments being essential to gauge whether students have mastered the material. Intervention strategies can be created if a student is not showing the necessary growth. We aim to provide a better learning experience for our students while still upholding our 2023-2024 School Improvement Plan..
[Audio] Our school improvement plan includes the implementation of small group instruction, reteaching, and remediation during the review process for summative assessments in order to ensure that every student is successful and reaches proficiency. Regular check-ins and data checks will help teachers identify and address any areas of need before the summative assessment. The “Big Six” classes have scheduled Flex and Intervention days to give students the time they need to catch up on missing work, retain information, or have a whole group reteach. The plan also includes the implementation of Tier Two Intervention, to provide targeted support to those who may need it the most..
[Audio] As our School Improvement Plans aim to benefit the whole school, it is essential that we all keep in mind that changes may be necessary for maximum success. The School Improvement Team will visit classrooms and provide feedback to teachers. They will also assess data of the teachers they observe and, if the figures are not achieving the desired standard, adjustments may be necessary. For example, One on One Intervention should be employed to give students with disabilities the extra support they need. The School Improvement Team must assign paraprofessionals and special education teachers to those classes that require their help. It is crucial that we carefully monitor the progress of our students and be prepared to act when change is essential..
[Audio] The School Improvement Plan for 2023-2024 is an ambitious yet achievable plan to ensure that our students are getting the most out of their education. To ensure the progress of the plan is communicated throughout the year, the leadership team will have monthly meetings and provide constant feedback to teachers. Furthermore, each Professional Learning Community will take notes and report back to their team members, and administrators will disseminate emails evaluating the success of the plan. With the execution of this plan, we are certain our students will reach their full potential..
