CULTURAL STUDIES is an academic discipline which combines political economy, communication, sociology, social theory, literary theory, media theory, film studies, cultural anthropology, philosophy, art history/ criticism etc. to study cultural phenomena in various societies..

Representation is a key concept and denotes a language in which all objects and relationships get defined, a language related to issues of class, power and ideology, and situated within the context of “ discourse ”.

Cultural Studies is interested in the process by which power relations organize cultural artefacts (food habits, music, cinema, sport events etc.)..

Cultural Criticism is another critical lens through which any text can be viewed. This form of criticism examines how different religions, ethnicities, class identifications, political beliefs, and views affect the ways in which texts are created and interpreted..

Since culture is now considered as the source of art and literature, cultural criticism has gained ground, and therefore, Raymond Williams’ term “cultural materialism”, Stephen Greenblatt’s “cultural poetics” and Bakhtin’s term “cultural prosaic”, have become significant in the field of cultural studies and cultural criticism..

By reading the poem entitled "Speaking with Hand" we already know what was the poem is all about, by understanding it thoroughly the poem is simply all about a social class of a certain group of people who lives in one area, in which their way of living can be describe in words which is "people who live in a poor area"..

A Cultural Criticism about the  "Speaking with hands"

By reading the poem entitled "Speaking with Hand" we already know what was the poem is all about, by understanding it thoroughly the poem is simply all about a social class of a certain group of people who lives in one area, in which their way of living can be describe in words which is "people who live in a poor area".

Upon reading the poem we may able to say that the writer itself did a great upon showing something that was really happening in our society in which there are improper equality especially when it comes to our social class..

A CULTURAL CRITICISM ABOUT THE  " SPEAKING WITH HAND "

Therefore the literary text is all about a family who's striving and fighting despite of the inequality within their community, it was also been describe that they bought their food from a thieves,  yet at end of the poem they didn't succeeded to get what they wanted.
