CREATING TOMORROW PROJECT SELECTION: CHEMISTRY. Watch the video carefully and then vote at the end..

Scene 2 (12s)

Snap, Crackle and Pop. What does the periodic table of elements, mixing and separating of mixtures and macaroni salad have in common? All of these have various forms of matter, the matter that matters… During this project we will look at the periodic table in detail, the four parts of elements on the periodic table and mixtures and pure substances. We will also look at the science of making a macaroni salad and what makes this type of salad a mixture. Lastly we will look at the most dangerous elements found on the periodic table and why these elements are so dangerous. Individual elements project, with group elements..

Scene 3 (43s)

When life gives you lemons…. There is a saying that goes, “ When life gives you lemons, make lemonade .” It is a proverbial expression used to inspire optimism and a positive can-do attitude in the face of difficulty or misfortune. Lemons suggest sourness or trouble in life; making lemonade is turning them into something positive or desirable. During this project, you will explore acids and bases, by conducting several chemical reaction experiments, to eventually make bath bombs in the creation phase. You will also explore acidity in the body and possible ways of remaining optimistic when life gets you down . Individual project.

Scene 4 (1m 15s)

In Your Element…. All matter, living and non-living is made up of atoms that make up elements. The atom is the basic building block of all matter in the universe. Everything you see around you is made up of different elements. The periodic table is a system that we can use to classify these elements. Individual project.

Scene 5 (1m 37s)

Acidus…. We can classify substances into different groups, for example, acids and bases. Acids and bases are important groups of chemicals that can be found in many foods and household chemicals. For example, different types of soaps contain bases and many drinks contain acids. Some of these acids and bases are weak and others are strong and dangerous. In this project, we will learn about the properties of acids and bases, such as what they taste and feel like, how to distinguish between them, the scientific method and how to keep safe in a laboratory . Group project.
