This study's main goal is to show how the  European Union SMEs has recoveried, resilience, and growth 
in the post-Covid-19 world. This study contributes to the current understanding of recovery, resilience, 
and growth phases related to SMEs by consolidating previous research, proposing research 
opportunities, and providing recommendations for practitioners. For this reason, we decided to analyse 
the articles using a mixed research method: automated content analysis (ACA). ACA enables the 
identification of topics and the classification of literature, using topics as a guide for classification. This 
gives us an in-depth insight into the content, explaining the crucial factors for understanding SMEs’ 
concepts (digitalisation and digital transformation, green transformation and circular economy, 
adoptions of SMEs according to the digital and green transformation, European countries and EU 
approaches and solutions for SMEs support recovery, resilience and growth, risk management, social 
performance.
