Founded by the 92 nd Street Y in NYC, and now entering its fifth year, Giving Tuesday has been described as: a federated, multi-platform campaign, that involves many different nonprofits and many donation processing platforms, all focusing on a single day so that they can coordinate efforts to raise awareness and publicity. Growth of Giving Tuesday has been enormous, with a large number of organizations, including Google, Skype , Cisco, UNICEF, and others joining in as promotional partners. It is always held on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving..
What Is CLS’s Experience With Giving Tuesday?. In 2013, we raised $31,000. Our first Giving Tuesday fundraiser ever Just a few emails to our constituency Came in 3 rd place on Razoo.com of all competing fundraisers, winning us $2,000 more dollars in prizes from Razoo.com. In 2014, we raised over $70,000. Greater planning and promotion More major gifts in place ahead of time Won $2,000 in prizes from Razoo.com In 2015, we raised $50,000 .
