[Audio] Cagayan Valley region located in the northeastern part of mainland Luzon is the fourth largest region of the Philippines with an area of about 9% of the country's total land area. It is home to the iconic Cagayan River which is the longest river and biggest basin in the Philippines and has a total length of 520 kilometers and a drainage area of 2.8 million hectares. It has a basin area of 27753 kilometers2 and 1 200000 hectares of major ground water resources. [Audio] denr (Department of Environment and Natural Resources) Region 11 is made up of nine municipalities: Laak Monkayo Montevista Compostela New Bataan Maragusan Nabunturan Mawab Maco and Mabini. Each one is handled by a penr (Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office) Officer with Rita Fe G Gunn Ph.D. in charge of all denr operations in the region..

[Audio] The slide depicts the denr offices based in Poblacion Monkayo in Davao de Oro. Personnel on location include CENR Officer Gretel B Basoc and his assistant Elma A Cortez. The denr offices handle three municipalities: Monkayo Montevista and Compostela plus New Bataan..

[Audio] Slide 6 reveals that the permanent personnel in the region consists of 37 males and 2 females. The denr offices of the region are found in the municipalities of Monkayo Montevista Compostela and New Bataan to provide better services for the local communities. The denr strives to make certain they have the appropriate manpower to carry out their mandate..

[Audio] The total land area of the region is 218939.70 hectares. Three municipalities within the region are Monkayo Compostela and New Bataan. These locations are under the denr’s purview and each contain various important offices and officers..

[Audio] Region of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (D-E-N-R-) has a total forest land area of 147836.61 hectares providing large area for preservation and progression of the forest resources. denr is devoted to keeping the forest cover to the best of all the stakeholders' interests along with taking appropriate management and utilization of the resources. Initiatives are set to support sustainable forest management encouraging conservation reforesting and other interventions to uphold the health and soundness of the forests. denr is committed to safeguarding the region's forest resources and ensuring these places are kept and safeguarded for the future..

[Audio] The Civil Service Commission is the government agency responsible for ensuring the highest standards in public service. In this region the C-S-C supports 3177 holders and spans a total of 7942.86 hectares. Community-Based Forest Management Agreements are also in effect currently held by 11 holders and spanning a total of 43611.68 hectares..

[Audio] This slide provides an overview of two forest products monitoring stations six forest ranger stations and four other stations located in the region. The two forest products monitoring stations are located in Compostela and New Bataan. There are also six forest ranger stations located in Brgy. Rizal Monkayo Davao de Oro; Brgy. Ngan Compostela Davao de Oro; Gabi Compostela Davao de Oro; Banlag Monkayo Davao de Oro; San Jose Montevista Davao de Oro; and Cambagang Maragusan Davao de Oro. These stations provide significant support to the denr in the region and help protect the environment..

[Audio] The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (D-E-N-R-) covers a region with a total patrol coverage of 4364.33 kilometers and a total conservation area of 145928.57 hectares. Its offices are located in four cities: Monkayo Montevista Compostela and New Bataan. From 2018 to the present denr officers have documented 34 threats to the environment including garbage cutting of trees landslides and mining..

[Audio] We can see on this slide the geohazard and flood mapping of the region which consists of five classifications of flood from high to very high as well as 25 tenement holders and five areas of land classifications from debris flow accumulation zone to timberland. Such information is essential for devising safe and sustainable practices for the region when it comes to its development and planning..

[Audio] The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (D-E-N-R-) is actively protecting watersheds in various parts of the region such as Manorigao Agusan Caraga Casauman Cateel Hijo Baganga Matiao Saug and Tagugpo Rivers. denr has invested in the area by building 3 Small Water Impounding Systems (S-W-I-S-) and 3 Soil and Water Conservation Measures (SWCM Gabions) to further safeguard the area's watersheds..

[Audio] Andap Watershed Forest Reserve was declared by Proclamation No. 194 series of 1994 spanning a total land area of 19061.60 hectares. It is composed of three parts the Critical Watershed which covers 984.98 hectares the Sumlog River Watershed which covers 1293.95 hectares and the Tagum-Libuganon River Watershed which covers 16033.88 hectares. All of these components contain unique species of flora and fauna and are protected by the denr in order for them to be enjoyed by future generations of Filipinos..

We also discussed the six main lumber dealers in the region having a combined total of 6732.79 hectares of land.
