[Audio] Good day. This presentation will address the Banff Aspen Lodge case study..
[Audio] The bottom line issue associated with this case study is the imperative that the general manager od Banff Aspen Lodge fill two critical front desk vacancies to improve business performance. Front desk personnel are usually the first point of contact for prospective guests and guests who stay at the lodge. It is important for management to have the right person with the right attitude and skill set in these positions since first impressions of the lodge is based on interactions with the front desk staff..
[Audio] From the case study, the job requirements for front desk staff can be summarized as noted on this slide. Supporting prospective guests with information. Check-in and check-out services. Providing breakfast vouchers Providing guest support and services - both anticipated and when asked. And ensuring guest safety and well-being..
[Audio] The ideal hire for front desk positions would have attributes as noted on this slide. Hospitality business knowledge. Friendly personality and a great attitude. Great communication skills. Good problem solving skills. Knowledge of the local vicinity to support guest needs. And the ability to handle financial transactions..
[Audio] Of the 9 resumes received, I would recommend interviewing the five candidates listed alphabetically on this slide. Focusing mostly on past experience (both hospitality and customer), these five candidates appear to possess at least some of the necessary attributes for this position. Additional relevant factors – such as being multilingual or having emergency knowledge – are also included here..
[Audio] These interview questions focus on many aspects but underlying them is an ability to communicate, especially under a stressful situation such as an interview. An interview is a good simulation of what a front desk person might encounter when dealing with a variety of customer issues. These interview questions will allow the candidates to expand what they had already provided in their resumes along with stating what are their qualifications and positive traits. The last question on this slide provides an opportunity for the interviewee to ask the lodge staff questions..
[Audio] Assuming that those with strong resumes will also have strong interviews, I would recommend offering the two positions to the two people listed on this slide. Both have experiences working in hotels in front office capacities. They both appear to be eager and have good attitude. These candidates also offered experiences dealing with customers. Both resumes were well written. Of course, depending on how the interview went, the other three candidates interviewed could be good alternatives if one of these two fail to pan out..
