This book is about Plop, who was a baby barn Owl and was perfect in every way except that he was afraid of the dark. This was unusual as owls are night birds and are known to be unafraid of the dark. Even his mother tried to explain this to him but he still did not want to know anything about the dark.

Scene 4

On his mother’s suggestion, Plop decided to move out to meet new people to know more about the dark. First he  m et a little boy who told him that the dark was exciting because you can not watch fireworks and bonfires until it is dark.   Then Plop watched fireworks in the dark with his parents.

Scene 5

Then he met an old lady who told him that the dark is kind because it hides things like shabbiness in her house and her old age. She also said that the dark is quiet and restful. Then he met a boy scout who told him that dark is fun because even quite ordinary games like hide and seek are fun is the dark and you can enjoy yourself around a campfire in the dark.

Scene 6

After this, Plop met a little girl who told him that the dark is necessary because Father Christmas only comes in the dark and gives toys to children. Then Plop met a young lady who told him that the dark was fascinating because one gets to see various interesting sights and encounters the most fascinating creatures like bats.

Scene 7

After this, Plop met a man with a telescope who showed him various stars and constellations in the night sky using the telescope. The man told Plop that the dark was wonderful because one would miss such a lot if there was no dark. Lastly, Plop met a big black cat named Orion who told him that the dark is beautiful because the moonlight makes everything which it touches, look beautiful. Orion took out Plop to go hunting with him.

Scene 8

Now Plop was convinced that he is a night bird that he is not afraid of the dark and he can go out in the night without any fear.

Scene 9

From this book we learn that anyone can be afraid of anything in this world but we should try to fight our fears. If we talk to our family and friends then we can be the bravest people ever.
