To be eligible you must be between 16 and 17 with parental consent, 18 and 59 years old, or 60 to 65 and a regular donor referred to medical officer. Other requirements are to weigh at least 50 kg and have a systolic blood pressure of 160 mmHg or lower and diastolic pressure of 100 mmHg or lower. Hemoglobin levels should be at least 12.5 mg/dl for female or 13.5 mg/dl for male. Even if women are on their monthly period, if the hemoglobin levels are sufficient, they can donate. If travelling abroad, the person must be staying in the country for a minimum of one year, and if travelling for a short period of time, six months.
