BLE is a two-wave network that allows one to coordinate a network of devices to perform tedious tasks BLE is standardized for a variety of applications which leads to low development and operational costs BLE utilizes sophisticated data encryption allowing for some of the industry's tightest security. BLE allows for multiple applications to concurrently operate in parallel and not block each other. BLE is also configured to run simultaneously with Wi-Fi . Both can use the same 2.4-GHz frequency band, although their communication protocols are independent of each other..

Scene 2 (1m 50s)

[Audio] The Asset Tracking system utilizing BLE consists of three parts: The first part is one or multiple handheld PCs, such as tablet PCs, PDAs (personal digital assistants), EDAs (enterprise digital assistants) or pistol grip intelligent terminals. The handheld PC is preinstalled with both an RFID reader and the GAO Medical Diagnostic Laboratories Asset Management Software. Rather than a handheld pc, the tracking system can be a gateway, which transmits signals from the beacons to a location engine or third-party application. The second part is an RFID tag for each asset, also known as an asset beacon. These beacons can be customized to transmit information pertinent to the operator. An RFID object tag is attached to each asset for its identification. The third part is an RFID tag for each shelf or area where the item is located, also known as a location beacon. An RFID location tag is attached to a shelf or an area on which an asset is placed. UHF RFID location tags for indicating where an asset is located Once tags have been placed, a staff member can then walk through the areas where assets are located, with a handheld PC in his or her hand to automatically track all assets within range of the RFID reader..

Scene 3 (3m 24s)

[Audio] BLuetooth Low Energy is commonly known as BLE. BLE's two-wave network enables it to command a network of devices BLE consumes far less power than comparable Radio Frequency technology, such as WiFi. BLE has the potential for use in industrial applications, where location and speed are critical for efficiency and structure of factory workings. Beacons allow organizations to integrate BLE technology without the need for much extra hardware Most modern communication technologies are BLE-enabled..

Scene 4 (4m 5s)

[Audio] Bluetooth Low Energy has a number of benefits when compared with Bluetooth Classic Bluetooth Classic Performs basic point to point communications such as audio streaming and data transfer Bluetooth Classic is primarily utilized for audio streaming. Classic Bluetooth consumes high power and transmits to long ranges, which is suited for Bluetooth headsets and speakers. Bluetooth Low Energy ( BLE) is more functional and it caters to broader types of devices BLE was designed to provide low frequency services to products where speed is not the priority. BLE is meant for creating networks and broadcasts rather than point-to-point communications that Bluetooth classic was created. BLE has the point-to-point functionality of Bluetooth classic. BLE utilizes two-way device communication. More sophisticated beacons can receive instructions from the gateway One can also create large scale, device networks with BLE..

Scene 5 (5m 18s)

[Audio] BLE Hardware – Consists of a BLE beacon AND a BLE Gateway BLE Beacons are small radio transmitters that are deployed at various points within an area Beacons transmit data packets that indicate the status of the beacon. Beacons can provide highly accurate location as narrow as 1 cm. Beacons can be utilized in fixed positions, such as locations of parts within a factory, and mobile locations, such as monitoring the progress of components at various steps of the manufacturing process. A BLE Gateway is a low power device that connects beacons devices to a cloud. Gateways Connect BLE beacons to any BLE product through: Ethernet Usb dongle Wifi.

Scene 6 (6m 14s)

[Audio] The Asset Tracking system utilizing BLE consists of two parts: The first part is one or multiple handheld PCs, such as tablet PCs, PDAs (personal digital assistants), EDAs (enterprise digital assistants) or pistol grip intelligent terminals. An RFID object tag or beacon is attached to each asset for its identification. A RFID tag, also known as a location beacon, is attached to a shelf or area where the item is located. Once tags have been placed, a staff member can then walk through the areas where assets are located, with a handheld PC in his or her hand to automatically track all assets within range of the RFID reader..

Scene 7 (7m 35s)

[Audio] A simpler way of stating the BLE Tracking system is the following. All beacons share a common task, which is relaying information unique to that beacon to a gateway. That RFID tag, or beacon, communicates that information to a gateway, which then relays that information to a server or cloud And the gateway transmits signals from the beacons to a location engine or third-party application. The application software makes use of the locations and time stamp information of each asset and produces information useful for automotive manufacturers or rental companies..

Scene 8 (8m 15s)

[Audio] The People Tracking system utilizing BLE consists of two parts much like the asset tracking system: The people tracking system utilizes handheld PCs to directly track beacons The handheld PC acts as both a RFID reader and is installed with asset management software. Rather than utilizing handheld PCs, the people tracking system can utilize: A gateway, which transmits signals from the beacons to a location engine or third-party application. Any variation of beacon, customized or not, transmit information pertinent to the operator. The placement of the tags allows either a staff member or gateway to automatically track all people with beacons who are in range of the RFID reader..

Scene 9 (9m 7s)

[Audio] To summarize the BLE people tracking system, Each person to be tracked is given a particular identifier that relays unique, pertinent information to a gateway or handheld PC. Where the gateway relays the ID of the tag to a server or a cloud. And the cloud running the software makes use of the data pertinent to tracking all individuals assigned a beacon..

Scene 10 (9m 34s)

Scene 11 (9m 44s)

[Audio] In the automotive industry, leveraging the BLE/ Gateway system creates a well organized asset tracking system to create a structure critical to the functionality of the industry. BLE beacons are assigned to critical tools such as robotics and products being created on an assembly line in order to track all assets essential to manufacturing automotive products. All beacons share information deemed pertinent to RFID gateways. The gateways relay this information via RFID to a cloud server. Many factories utilized for manufacturing automobiles are irregular spaces with many obstructions. The nature of such spaces hampers the functionality and connectivity to other systems utilizing wireless technology such as Wi-fi, a technology dependent on non-interfering spaces for its functionality. BLE circumvents such technology with beacon-gateway non-spatial dependent connectivity..
