Once such path breaking digital initiative undertaken by Rourkela Steel Plant, was introduction of Biometric attendance management System (BAMS). The mega shift from the traditional register-based attendance recording system to biometric system not only eased out the daily working mechanisms but also improvised the productivity. Employees and union leaders were very much apprehensive about the time recording of attendance in this digital mode where any attendance punch in and out goes to the pay bill directly.
