abstract. It is obvious that any individual cannot manually keep track of people entering/leaving a room, seminar hall or any other public place easily and it would become tedious to sit and count one after the other person. This project helps to keep a check on number of people automatically using arduino and it displays the count once the sensor detects a person entering or leaving the place. It would be completely difficult for us to keep ourselves restricted to home and get things done in this pandemic, so is it important for us to maintain social distancing. In order to ensure social distancing, a limit can be set depending upon the number of people that can be accommodated in the room and once when the limit is reached, an indication is given. This indication specifies that allowing more number of people inside may not be safe and there won’t be proper distancing if the people count exceeds the limit that was set previously..
INTRODUCTION. Visitor counter can be used at the entrance of the room to count the number of people entering or leaving the room. Visitor counter allows us to keep a count of the people in auditorium, hall, classroom, offices, malls, sports venue etc. The Arduino guests counter in this project, will help us in keeping up with the quantity of individuals who go all through a venue or a shop it and thus help to keep up with social distancing and lessen the transmission of Coronavirus. The project can be utilized for social distancing to keep a separation among individuals and ensure that there's not an excess of group. implementation. IR sensor continuously senses the presence of persons / objects.(senses entry and exit of persons/objects). To make sure that only persons are detected and not the objects, piezo electric sensors are used to correctly sense the people. When IR sensor 1 detects something, only if the piezo electric sensor is detected, the count gets increased and will be displayed on the LCD screen, making sure that whatever is detected by IR sensor is a person and not an object. Similarly, when sensor 2 detects something leaving the room, only when piezo electric sensor is detected, count gets decreased and finally number of people present in the room will be displayed. Initially a count is fixed and the current number of visitors is compared with the fixed number to check whether limit is reached in order to ensure social distancing. If the limit is reached, an LED glows which gives us an alert and the same is displayed on LCD..

Advantages & disadvantages. Advantages Low cost , easy to code Counts two persons entering or leaving simultaneously Greater accuracy The circuit can be easily operated and it is not as complex as a microcontroller Disadvantages The circuit cannot detect when one person is entering and the other person is leaving simultaneously. Sensors used in the circuit have some minor disadvantages i.e IR sensor has limited range and the piezo electric sensor is temperature sensitive ..
PROPOSED CONCLUSION. Visitor counter can keep a check on number of people depending upon the sensing action. In order to follow covid protocols and maintain social distancing it is important to restrict number of people in public gatherings(seminar halls, mess, class rooms, offices etc) and this can be achieved through this project..
