Calculate Mean

Scene 3 (13s)

Mean

Mean is the most common average that you will come across in every day life. To calculate mean there are 2 steps. + then ÷ Step 1 – add up all the values. Step 2 – Divide the total by the amount of values you have.

Scene 4 (31s)

Calculate the mean of the following: -

4, 8, 1, 12, 34, 87, 21, 6

4 + 8 + 1 + 12 + 34 + 87 + 22 + 6 = 174

Add up all the numbers (it doesn’t matter if they are not in order)

Scene 5 (49s)

Calculate the mean of the following: -

4 + 8 + 1 + 12 + 34 + 87 + 22 + 6 = 174 174 ÷ 8 = 21.75

Divide the answer by the amount of numbers there are.

The answer is the mean.

Scene 6 (1m 5s)

Calculate the mean of the following: -

6, 8, 1, 14, 36, 85, 28, 8

Your Turn

Scene 7 (1m 15s)

Calculate the mean of the following: -

6 + 8 + 1 + 14 + 36 + 85 + 28 + 8 = 186 186 ÷ 8 = 23.25

Divide the answer by the amount of numbers there are.

The answer is the mean.

Add up all the numbers (it doesn’t matter if they are not in order)

Answer

Scene 8 (1m 35s)

Mean Here is how it looks with all of the working out shown.

Calculate the mean of the following: - 4, 8, 1, 12, 34, 87, 21, 6 4+8+1+ 12 + 34 + 87 + 22 +6 = 174 Add up all the numbers (it doesn't matter if they are not in order)

4+8+1+ 12 + 34 + 87 + 22 +6 = 174 174+8 Divide the answer by the amount of numbers there are. = 21.75 The answer is the mean.
