9. Introductory period. An employee is considered to serve an “introductory period” for 90 calendar days after their date of last hire in a job title by Sunshine Home Care Services. During this time the employee must perform required job tasks satisfactorily and receive the necessary orientation, written test, and skills checks. 19. Procedure to report an absence. Employees are required to provide a 2-hour notice of cancellations; this gives the scheduler time to find a replacement. All absences must be reported by calling 260-483-6878. Calls are accepted 24/7 at this number. After office hours the answering company may take longer to answer so it is important to stay on the line until they answer. If you hang up and try again you will be placed at the end of the wait line. The scheduler or other office staff may never be contacted directly. Do not call the client to report an absence or late arrival. The office staff will do this..

20. Late arrivals and early departures. All confirmed visits or shifts must be worked within the time frame that they are scheduled. Employees who may be late for a visit/shift due to an emergency or other situation must call 260-483-6878 as soon as it is known that the employee will be unable to arrive at the client’s home by the scheduled time and prior to the scheduled start time of the visit. Employees are not to call their clients to inform them of the schedule issue or other reason. Employee must call into the office before leaving clients home to get approval to leave. Remember you are paid for the hours you actually work, if you arrive late or leave early this will add up each week and decrease your paid hours..

21. No Fault Attendance policy. Sunshine has a No Fault attendance policy which incorporates a point assessment system for determining excessive absenteeism and/or tardiness. Read and understand the policy and if you have any questions, See Human Resources. Employees are responsible for their own attendance..

Type of Absence Points Assessed Absence for a full work day without the required 2 hour notice 1.5 Absence for a full work day, or 1 continuous event.( Full worked day is defined as all visits scheduled for that day.) 1 Arriving more than 30 minutes late to assigned schedule without proper notification. 0.5 Leaving early from assigned schedule or during any part of the shift without proper notification 0.5 Calling off work without using the proper call off procedure( this includes calling cell phones, text messaging, etc. The only proper way to call off is calling 260.483.6878 1 Absence for any part of a work day 0.5 No call No Show to 1 client visit during the workday 2 No Call – No Show. To all assigned clients in 1 day 3.

23. Attendance Points. Points are accumulated and dropped from the date of the occurrences on a rolling 12 month schedule. Employees who have perfect attendance for a 30 day period will eliminate the oldest 1 point from points accumulated under the disciplinary system. All points and half points not eliminated by the provision of #2 above, Shall be eliminated on the annual anniversary date of the absence or tardy which incurred the point or half a point Employees who are absent for consecutive multiple days (with a maximum of 5 days) for the same event will be considered ‘continuous illness days’ and assessed one point, as long as the employee is able to provide medical documentation acceptable to the company to support his/her absence.

When an employee works their schedule hours hours per week, sync and submit all paperwork timely, and have no call offs or attendance points that week they will receive a differential of $2.00 per hour for all hours worked. 35. rides. If an employee is getting a ride from someone who is not an employee of Sunshine, they must be dropped off and picked up at the nearest corner. This is to protect the client information (client address). The employee is to not disclose any client information to this person. This should be a temporary situation..

36. Client’s home. You will be given the client’s address, directions to the home and instructions on how to enter the home. When entering a home always make sure you announce who you are and that you work for Sunshine. Never accept a key and keep it with you. You may be falsely accused of “breaking and entering.” Employees are not to have personal visitors in or near a client's home. The client caregiver relationship is a professional relationship and shall be maintained as such at all times. No employee is authorized to visit a client outside of the scheduled work time. Violation of this policy will lead to discipline up to termination. Since we provide care in client’s homes, they have the right to live as they would including smoking in the home, having pets, having visitors, and keeping the home a certain temperature..

38. Conflict of Interest. No employee will place himself or herself in a position where personal interest may influence decisions between agency and other entities. Any possible conflict of interest on the part of a governing board member, administrative staff member, management staff member, or member of his or her immediate family should be disclosed to the board and made a matter of record through an annual procedure and when the interest becomes a matter of board action. All staff shall conduct business practice in such a manner that no conflict of interest, real or implied could be construed. Staff and families may not have financial interest in competing or supplying companies that could affect their performance or influence business decisions. The presiding chair of the governing body will have final authority on what constitutes a conflict of interest..
