[Audio] Action Taken. The University conducts orientation for freshmen students at the start of the school year. The different colleges also conduct this activity to orient the students not only with the Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives of the University but also with the goals of the College..

[Audio] Samar State University's College of Engineering recently commenced the general orientation for all incoming freshmen and reorientation for continuing students for the Academic Year 2024-2025 at the SSU Gymnasium..

[Audio] The event provided students with an overview of the University's policies, academic programs, and campus services..

[Audio] Freshmen were guided on how to navigate the transition to university life, while continuing students were briefed on updates to the curriculum, facilities, and available student support services.

[Audio] The orientation featured talks from key administrators, faculty members, and student leaders, who discussed important topics such as academic expectations, student rights and responsibilities, and campus safety protocols..

[Audio] The gathering aimed to foster a sense of community, ensuring that all students, whether new or returning, were well-prepared and excited for the year ahead..

[Audio] RECOMMENDATION. The College may aggressively look into the possibility of establishing more linkages with foreign academic institutions. This can be a tool in shaping them into global Filipinos..

[Audio] Action Taken. The University established an Office of the International Affairs that primarily aims to coordinate academic exchange and cooperation program for faculty and students with their partner universities abroad. SSU faculty and students are privileged to attend training and conferences abroad based on invitations from SSU's partner universities and organizations. Most training and conferences are hosted and organized by AUAP for its members or from its partner universities.

[Audio] International Training and Conferences Abroad. In 2024, SSU, represented by Engineer Meddy S. Mangaring, Dean of the College of Engineering, participated in the 2024 Global Industry-Academic Forum hosted by Vision College of Jeonju, South Korea. This four-day event, held from January 23-26, 2024, aimed to enhance cooperation between industries and academia, with a specific focus on fostering international exchange programs centered on innovations in new and renewable energy..

[Audio] In 2019, seven faculty members participated in a training course on water resources and coastal engineering at top universities in Europe, namely: Dr. Felisa Gomba, Dr. Ronald Orale, Dr. Elmer Irene, all Graduate School faculty members, and Engineer Lady Ann Fabillar, Engineer Wella Yangzon, Engineer Hebe Cuenco and Engineer Aprille Ellen Quebada, from the College of Engineering. It is a fully- funded activity by CHED for the offering of Water resources and coastal engineering program in the College of Engineering. The college has also participated in the Leadership Development 5.0 Training which was organized by Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific held in Bangkok, Thailand. Faculty and students from the college of engineering have also participated in international research conferences in Thailand, Malaysia, China, and Vietnam..

Orale, attended the International Conference and Utility Exhibition on Energy, Environment, and Climate Change (ICUE) 2022 at Pattaya City, Thailand hosted by the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).

[Audio] Alumnus Establishes Name Abroad As Mobile App Engineer. A former student of Samar State University Engr. Reno Reballos worked his way to the IT world in Singapore as a Senior Mobile Application Engineer at Dyson Pte Ltd., a leading hub with roles spanning from robotics, machine learning, AI, connectivity, to software, after he graduated the degree of Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering..

Samar State University worked together with international universities and other institutions from all over the world by welcoming faculty experts and professionals to have an exchange of information in pursuit of academic advancement, research, socio-cultural consciousness, and professional development through seminars and training. Samar State University (SSU), together with its Co-Host, the Visayas State University , commenced the 4th International Conference on Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable Development (iPOVCON) at the Rizal Park Hotel, Metro Manila, October 4-5, 2023.

The university strongly supports the faculty development program by pursuing their graduate and post-graduate studies from the SSU's partner universities and organizations. Being a member of the Association of Universities in Asia and the Pacific (AUAP) means it offers master's degrees and doctorate degrees to SSU faculty and students. Engr. Labrador of the College of Engineering took advantage of this opportunity by pursuing his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Zhengzhou University in Zhengzhou, China from 2019 to 2021..

[Audio] The SSU College of Engineering also marked another notable achievement as its faculty and students continue to bag awards in competitions in the international arena. The startup of SSU– Samar Island GIS and Data Analytics Center (SSU-SIGISDAC) Director, and a Computer Engineering Faculty, Engineer Raven S. Tabiongan, named as Team Terra, was shortlisted in the TOP150 of the X-PITCH 2022 Contest, selected from over 4,000 startups in 51 countries all over the world..
