D UŠIČKY.
How IT BEGAN ?. Dušičky consist of two days . First day we remember all the saints and the other one we dedicate to all decedent . All Saints Day is Christian festival which was origally celebrated on May 13, from the 4th century . In 10th century this festival was moved to November 1. In past All Souls Day was of the festivals in pagan culture ..
Traditions and rituals. The Celts ( who lived in our territory) celebrated this holiday in a completely different way than we do now. They believed that the night of October 31 to November 1 would definitely end the summer. Through sacrifices and rituals, they welcomed the "new ruler." They lit fires in the woods so that their loved ones could get back home because they believed that the worlds of the dead and the living would intermingle tonight. On this night, the dead could move freely around the world finding their victims . This tradition is very similar to today's American holiday Halloween..

The present. In those days we go to cemeteries, visit the graves of our loved ones, light candles and bring wreaths or flowers. If we can't go to the grave we light candles at least at the central cross or even at home in the evening..
