Linathi has acquired bilateral moderate sensori -neural hearing loss following bacterial meningitis: Bacterial meningitis - infection found on 3 layers covering the brain which are also found close to the inner ear Acquired- something you are not born with Bilateral hearing loss - difficulty hearing with both ears Moderate hearing loss- Linathi has difficulty in hearing the sounds when people talk to her Sensori -neural Hearing loss - is a result when the nerve connecting the inner ear and brain is damaged. (Bayazit & Yilmaz,2006).
