Scene 3 (2m 39s)

The Greatest Showman is a 2017 American biographical musical drama film directed by Michael Gracey in his directorial debut, written by Jenny Bicks and Bill Condon and starring Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron , Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, and Keala Settle. Featuring nine original songs from Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the film is based on the story and life of P.T. Barnum, a famous showman and entertainer, and his creation of the Barnum & Bailey Circus and the lives of its star attractions. The Greatest Showman, like the circus it depicts, is a musical for the masses, an amusing, if slightly sloppy, production that is far from high art but properly conveys an underdog narrative for the working class. The Greatest Showman is worth the matinée price since it stars a gorgeous cast and has an intriguing though repetitive soundtrack..

In the late 19th century, P. T. Barnum and his troupe perform a show at the circus. They live a humble life; though Charity is happy, Barnum craves more. Barnum works for a trading company until he was fired due to the company's banckrupcy . Barnum goes home to Charity and their daughters Caroline and Helen. He brings home a spinning lamp, or "wishing machine", for Caroline's birthday.
