User case & Workflow. The user approaches the Help Desk. The user provides basic details to the Help Desk volunteer and receives a ACMIH device The user installs or opens the AccessScape mobile application. The ACMIH automatically detects the building and loads the appropriate floor plan onto the app. The user wears the ACMIH and, using the app’s IVR system, selects a destination within the building. The app calculates the shortest route using direction sensing, altitude sensing, and BLE beacon-assisted pathfinding algorithm. Guided by voice assistance, the user navigates through corridors, receiving real-time directions and distance updates based on multiple sensor-assisted Navigation algorithms.
User case & Workflow. After passing a beacon, the receiver detects the next one and continues navigation as in step 7. If the route includes stairs, an elevator, or a lift, the app provides detailed instructions for their use. Upon reaching the destination, the app uses a compass to guide the user to the exact point and may deliver a brief message about the location. Steps 7 to 10 can be repeated for additional destinations within the building. At any time, the user can press shortcut keys to return to the Help Desk, assembly point, or evacuation point, with voice guidance provided. After use, the ACMIH can be returned at the designated location, as instructed by the app..

FAQs. 18.
1. To achieve better signal reception from the transmitters and ensure higher accuracy, we integrated the receiver directly into the headset. This design allows all essential sensors to be properly positioned and supports effective use of voice assistance, which plays a crucial role in the system. Placing the receiver at a height above 5 feet enables optimal reception from beacons installed above 6 feet. Additionally, this approach overcomes limitations of mobile phones that may lack the necessary sensors and eliminates the inconvenience of requiring users to carry and connect a separate headset to their phones..
2. Yes, the solution is equally usable by individuals without visual impairments. The current implementation supports indoor navigation for all users through a mobile application that provides real-time positioning within the premises. The app accurately displays the user’s location inside buildings and along passageways, enabling seamless guidance and route tracking. The intuitive interface and live location updates enhance orientation and movement, making it a versatile solution for both visually impaired and sighted users..
