[Audio] Hi, I'm Michele. I've been working as a lab assistant for the past year. Today, I'll share my journey and experiences in this role..
[Audio] First Things Learned: I started with milling samples, then moved on to weighing them for various tests, and finally learned how to mix chemicals to prepare buffers.
[Audio] Other Assistant Duties are: Managing inventory and ordering supplies, Logging incoming supplies into the system, Keeping the lab areas clean and organized, Restocking items and ensuring all materials are available, Washing stir bars, milling machine parts, and other equipment Performing NIR testing, Packing and preparing shipments for UPS pick-up, Disposing of old samples properly, Performing daily checks on pH and the moisture analyzer machine (rotating with colleagues every other day), Performing monthly checks on pipettes, balances, and pH (sometimes rotating with colleagues), Updating the RBP book.
[Audio] Trainers: I was trained by Julie and Nayiber, who provided excellent guidance and support. Support from Colleagues: Other people in the lab were also extremely helpful, providing additional guidance and support during my training period. Suggestions for Training: Hands-on training and shadowing experienced lab assistants are crucial. My training included shadowing Julie and Nayiber and receiving hands-on mentorship from them, which was extremely valuable. Periodic review sessions to reinforce learning and address any questions..
