During this orientation we will cover key topics such as visa and insurance requirements class schedules academic issues and regulations Chinese language classes and living in Hong Kong. [Audio] Today we will be discussing important topics such as academic issues and regulations methods of evaluation and final examinations and continuous assessment. The minimum study load at H-K-B-U is 12 units which translates to 4 courses per semester. This will provide you with a well-rounded education and ensure that you are meeting the requirements for your degree program. You are expected to attend all enrolled classes. This is important for your academic success building relationships with your professors and classmates. We use a variety of teaching and learning methods to deliver course content including lectures and tutorials. We believe that this approach provides students with a variety of ways to learn and engage with the material. It is important to be patient and flexible with different accents and to use English as your primary language for communication. We will be using outcomes-based teaching and learning in which the teaching and learning activities (TLAs) and assessment methods (AMs) are constructively aligned with the intended learning outcomes (ILOs) for the course. This will help ensure that you are meeting the learning goals for each course. We encourage you not to wait until the end of the semester to begin studying. [Audio] 1. Remove The variety of Chinese language classes we offer will help you improve your language skills and gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture. 2. Remove lang 1105 is a 3-credit course that covers the basics of Mandarin language including grammar vocabulary and pronunciation. This course is designed for beginners and will help you develop a strong foundation in Mandarin. 3. Remove lang 1106 builds on the skills developed in lang 1105 and will focus on advanced Mandarin topics such as grammar conversation and reading. 4. Remove lang 1107 will introduce you to Cantonese the most widely spoken dialect of Chinese in Hong Kong. This course will cover the basics of Cantonese language including grammar vocabulary and pronunciation. 5. Remove We encourage all of our exchange students to take advantage of these language classes to improve your language skills and gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture. 6.
