Why do we have stereotypes and expected roles? Our society has a set of ideas about how we expect people to dress, behave and present themselves.

that can affect how we treat others.
Implicit bias is not intentional, but it can still
impact how we judge others based on factors,
such as:

Language
In early childhood settings, implicit biases can
affect how providers perceive and respond to
children, which can lead to unfair differences in
the use of exclusionary discipline practices, such
as suspension and expulsion.

Examples: looking at each other and nodding in agreement, ask and respond to questions

Interprets society as: a series of interaction that are based on estimates of rewards and punishments Analyzes social interaction as: a rational balancing act involving perceived costs and benefits of a given behavior Layman terms: social behavior is the result of an exchange process. Purpose of exchange is to maximize benefits and minimize costs. People weigh the potential benefits and risks of social relationships. Examples: Asking someone out.
